You lost my vote before you even had it with your comments on bike paths throughout the city. I too am against unneccessary spending by the current group. The roads do need maintenance. However; people keep moving to Wilmington and they always will because it's a growing city in a great location. Poor planning in the past has led to terrible traffic congestion. For example, imagine the appeal and uniqueness of our city had the trolley tracks stayed in place and been used as transportation/tourist attraction. Providing an updated and more appealing public transportation system will help. So will improving on areas of alternative transportation, like bike paths and greenways...like those that you see in Raleigh...not just communist China. I would prefer, on occasion to ride my bike to work and save a little gas...do my part to not be so dependent on Third World Dictators and the Middle East for barrels of oil.
Regardless, Wilmington is moving forward, and your backward thinking will ensure you of not making the Council cut. Wake up and try again next election.
