Are you a candidate for public office?
Yes
If the answer is yes, what office do you seek?
Commissioner, Town of Belville

Let's focus on the good that is happening and continue working together to move Belville forward.

Dear Belville Residents,

I'm Buddie Ennis and I want to continue to serve on your behalf as a Belville Commissioner. I have faithfully served the residents of this town for over 14 years as a member of the town's public boards and as the "point man" for promoting the town and bringing in the kind of development that complements Belville.

I know this area like the back of my hand. Four generations of my family have and continue to run the local foundry, which is the oldest continuous business in Belville. I am a member of Grace Point Community Church and served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 10 years. I know how to lead successful organizations. Having been married 38+ years to my wife Sue, I also know that leadership requires consensus.

I'll tell you why I want to be re-elected. I believe in this town and want to continue acting on current issues like the infrastructure needs of some of our older subdivisions. As a commissioner, I recently voted for the town to take over and begin maintaining some of the streets in the Olde Towne neighborhood. I have also voted to allocate the funds needed to begin fixing the drainage problems in that community. I also spearheaded and voted to approve the contracts necessary for realigning Blackwell Road, which will result, in a year or less, in substantial traffic and safety benefits.

All of this has been done without the town going into debt or raising your property taxes.

I am also passionate about the change that is coming to Belville's downtown. As a member of the governing board, I voted to approve the extensive series of meetings where the residents told us of their vision for the downtown. The board adopted that vision and began tearing down the derelict, and illegal, properties in that area without incurring any costs and in one instance, having the US Government reimburse the town thousands of dollars in legal fees. Thereafter the board entered into an agreement that will eventually transform the downtown into a truly exciting location, while retaining its small town charm and at no additional cost to the town's taxpayers.

There is another reason why I am running again. There are candidates for the board running on a platform of misrepresentations and character attacks. Their purpose is to mislead you into voting for them and they are only seeking to serve themselves, not you. That's not the Belville I have known and worked for all these years. I am therefore, taking a stand against that kind of politics and I hope you will also, by voting for me this coming Tuesday. I would also encourage you to support Chuck Thurlow who is running for re-election as Mayor. Let's focus on the good that is happening and continue working together to move Belville forward.

Sincerely,

Buddie Ennis
