yep, like Saffo said, "It's back to business as usual for me and the city council." Today Charlie said he "wants the hotel to be a 5 star, top of the line..." for him and his buddies to host card games I guess. No one else will be able to afford to stay there.

$200,000 sounds like a lot of money, but if there is a notorious intersection with many accidents caused by red light runners, it sounds like a necessity.

The topic of getting around in this city is a good one though and one of my long time pet peeves. I live in the Audubon area (old home between Wrightsville, Oleander, Floral Pkwy and 41 st St) and we routinely see scofflaw through traffic zipping up our narrow, rural streets at 50-60 mph (25mph speed limit!), because there are no speed bumps between Wrightsville and Oleander on most of those streets. Imagine how dangerous that is for pedestrians when you consider that there are no sidewalks in that whole area! This city is HORRIBLE to bike or walk around in and it looks like Mayor Saffo has given it little more than lip service.

Speaking of which, there aren't any sidewalks or crosswalks anywhere on Oleander, even at the recently completed Mayfaire Mall area, and we have more-or-less All Real Estate developers sitting on our city council? Where is the irony in that?

Reaching across the Isle (I mean river) Bob Boynton will be a good neighbor to Willmington as mayor of the fastest growing town of Leland in North Brunswick County...
