I was very disappointed to see campaign workers parked directly in front of the Leland Town Hall early this morning, forcing the voters to park in the overflow parking lot and along Town Hall Drive. I have no problem with workers and candidates politicking at the polling places, but why should the campaign workers and candidates be allowed to monopolize the majority of the parking spaces in the small parking lot? Why have I chosen to run for Leland Town Council? I’m running because I feel I can make a difference by utilizing my 40 years of administrative skills and proactive work ethic on behalf of the Town of Leland and its residents. No other candidate for Council has the kind of experience I possess. I’m proud to be living here and to call Leland my home. I have the energy and desire to give 110% focus to the important issues – of which there are and will continue to be many -- in this fast-growing community. The issues that concern me most are maintaining the highest ethical conduct in a world that can sometimes corrupt too easily, ensuring balanced planning practices for smart growth, being watchful of any attempts at wasteful spending, maintaining the highest quality services possible within the budgetary constraints we are all faced with today, and providing all the residents with equal representation they deserve. I am enthusiastic about the future of Leland, and I know it will take hard work, dedication, and a dedicated commitment to encourage economic development We must transition into the future thoughtfully and carefully. I am prepared to work hard and to be faithful to the “team” of residents who have the best interests of Leland at heart.

Hope all Leland voters will attend the annual Candidates' Forum sponsored by the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and moderated by the Cape Fear League of Women Voters. It is scheduled for October 8, 6 pm in the Antonio's Res. meeting space. Seating is limited and on a first come first serve basis.
